A couple of months back all I had was a blank document titled Thesis. Today, I will begin working on my first round of revisions. I still can't understand how I got it done. Now, in hindsight, I can offer some help :)
There will be days u won't be able to write a word....it's okay
On some days ur word count will b negative coz u'll delete what u wrote a while back....it's okay
On some days u'll be stuck in an endless loop of reading ref. within ref. only to write 5 words...it's okay

There will be days you will feel on the top of your game..
When your brain constructs sentences that leave you astounded
When you find the one reference you are looking for in less than a minute
When you *actually* enjoy writing your dissertation :)

Trust me when I say you will get there, no matter how impossible it seems to you at the moment.
The journey from a blank document to emailing the first draft of your thesis to your PI is riddled with highs and lows. Don't fret a lot about the lows and do celebrate the tiny wins.
