So ignore the conservative morons in this thread bc this is the only way I could remember where the video was, but this is emblematic of why the lionization of the woman who was booty butt naked on the road spreading at those feds doesn’t exactly sit right with me. (Thread smh) https://twitter.com/stclairashley/status/1272367126133661696
The kind of action the spreading lady is taking is - as far as I can tell - leaning on using performative vulnerability to highlight the weakness of the cops she’s spreading her legs at. That in the face of true submission they are powerless because their power is fear.
I’ve also been mulling over that maybe the approach is to reflect a sense of vulgarity back at the feds but that’s harder to make sense for me. But it doesn’t sit right because, as this excellent thread explains, some actions rely on racist assumptions.

The reason she was able to do that and not be harmed or ridiculed was that her display of aggressive sexuality, as far as I can tell, was protected by the power of whiteness and reinterpreted as heroic resistance rather than vulgar mockery.
She isn’t at all the first to use a sexualized symbolic statement to intimidate or disrupt the police. The twerking lady however was vilified with no corresponding heroicization from the respectability focused left.
I wouldn’t say I’m against the whole flashing the feds to scare them off thing. But the reaction to her weaponization of sexuality vs others previously makes me uncomfortable because it feels like it doesn’t challenge some of the biases that the protests are about.
