With over $4 Billion in projected loses, Major League Baseball is getting creative in 2020.

Time for a thread 👇👇👇
1) With COVID-19 sweeping across the country, the 2020 MLB season will look different. Here's what to expect:

- Each team will play 60 games
- There will be a universal DH for both leagues
- Players, coaches and support staff will be tested for COVID-19 every other day
2) In order to make up for lost brand exposure and create new inventory for advertisers, you’ll see the MLB using virtual advertisements throughout the season.

Typically virtual ads have been reserved for the postseason and All-Star Games. https://twitter.com/frntofficesport/status/1284633177495973888
3) Through their partnership with @Sony, the MLB is requiring clubs to use some form of fake sound.

Sony will provide teams with 75 samples of crowd noise from its MLB video game. https://twitter.com/AnthonyDiComo/status/1283494307652042753
4) Beginning Saturday, @FOXSports will utilize virtual fans for it's MLB game broadcasts.

They believe this will provide better entertainment for viewers than empty stands or cardboard cutouts.

5) Dugouts will also look significantly different this year with players expected to stay 6+ feet apart. https://twitter.com/MHershgordon/status/1285736031485124612
6) How does the shortened MLB season affect salaries?

Active players will earn 37% of their typical salary.

The highest paid player in 2020? Jon Lester, who will benefit from signing bonus payments. https://twitter.com/spotrac/status/1285612318622195713
