I should keep a running tally of how long it goes between me having to install some weird old windows 95 or windows 3.1 software
I think I made it to almost a week, once

I like how Office 95 is so old that it still says it's copying from "Disk 1" even though this is a CD-ROM
it's a doom-like 2.5D renderer, and it's pretty simple. There's a hallway and then a path up to a scrolling texture that lists the credits for Excel '95
which leads to a picture of some of the excel developers. I won't show it here... because my VM is set up for 16 colors (so it'd look shit) and because it's a VM (which means it runs too fast and makes the path really hard to get up)
BUT! did you know you can glitch out of the level? Yeah, it turns out the movement isn't super-solid, so by pushing against a wall (like the scrolling texture at the top of the stairs), and backuping and rotating, you can eventually exit the level into THE VOID
and once you've done that, it's a simple matter to walk around the zig-zag path room and see the developer portrait from the backside
but importantly, I have debug tools that work just fine in XP.
so hopefully I can figure out where this particular code is hidden.

no luck with FileMon. it seems the code that runs the game is already loaded when excel loads, I'm not seeing any new files opened when you trigger it
