Of course there are big questions surrounding: How do you define popular? Who decides what’s beyond the pale? What does “not supporting” mean? Etc

Old tweets only matter if the person still has those/similar views. And it matters if it was a joke. Ben Shapiro’s “Arabs like sewage” tweet is fair game because he believes it to this day. James Gunn’s edelord joke tweets are dumb, but he has made sincere growth on them.
Everyone who advocated for the Iraq War has lost all credibility to talk about importent matters unless they have said “Hey, I got swept up in jingoism and I will prove that it won’t happen again” (no one has done this)
Teenaged racists on TikTok- I will say that kids should have the opportunity to grow out of their reactionary shit, but I also understand that schools and colleges should prioritize the safety of POC students b4 the comfort of racist ones
Kaepernick- Blacklisted (punished professionally for being an activist for human rights)
Assange/Snowden/Manning- terrorized (the full apparatus of the state was used to punish these people extrajudicially for embarrassing the USA)
Revealed- A person who has suffered 0 professional ramifications despite being shown to be a bigot

Self-Censored is a hard one cuz it applies to "reporter gives up trying to add context to a Trump piece because their editor has made it clear they want to be 'fair'" and "Jon Chait didn't write his 100th "colleges are too PC" column cuz he knew we would laugh at him
Let's say Example 1 is Self-Censorship and Example 2 is Mandatory Growth.
But what about these folks? What happened/SHOULD happen to them? Well each has very little "power" or "platform" but were punished socially and/or professionally for threatening the lives of innocents.

Karens and Kevins usually fall under this category depending on whether they: used slurs, were violent, called the police, said go "back to your country", etc. In which case they will be Watchlisted
