The #CornRevolution: a thread.

Corn breeding has come a long way, and thanks to @RosedaleAg, this stress wheel serves as a great visualization of a few “oldies” that shaped the industry.

@PioneerSeeds
@corteva
Flint corn represents an example of what the Pilgrims would have planted, and Reid’s Yellow Dent was the most common open pollinated corn used up until @PioneerSeeds debuted the first commercial hybrid in the 1920s.
3369A accelerated the @PioneerSeeds brand in the late 60s. This hybrid was especially known for its resistance to southern corn leaf blight in the “blight years” of the 70s.
3184 was popular in the 80s. This 123-day hybrid made for a late harvest season, and farmers may remember how “it shelled like stove wood” due to its high grain quality.
At 3394’s prime in the 90s, this hybrid itself was the #2 corn company in the world: behind @PioneerSeeds itself.

What do you remember about it?
33N58 was especially popular in the Southwestern Indiana geography due it its versatility, high yield potential, and high test weight.
So what’s next? What hybrids will we celebrate in 20 years? Reply with your favorite hybrids in the line-up today!
