Life was tough and I was lucky enough to host @PhanArt and @sakuraYEM at our home but the front door lock broke & again newborn and I was like dude don’t go see #Phish in Chula Vista. LA was burning and I promised a ride to @neelakanta108 & others a ride and my wife made me go.
On a good day you can make it from LA to SD in 2 hours. This trek took 5 hours & @McDonalds didn’t grasp that we just wanted black coffee & we barely made it on time. I also accidentally condumed acid cause welp my rule of if you ask me to hold your beer I’m gonna take a sip
So as I mentioned in a Gorge recap Farmhouse is a rad song for new parents trying to get their kids to go to fucking sleep. The crew found a spot in the back of the seats and I legit broke down crying thinking I wasn’t the worlds greatest dad when they opened with this gem
Of course #Phish trolls drought stricken SoCal with Water in the Sky. Then a few mins later boom Ass Handed. 2nd time played and my 2nd fav #Phish song. They blessed us with a 10 min Tube knowing the 3/5th filled corporate amp was fans who got stuck on a freeway in Los Angeles
I finally got my Sloth and then in Wolfman’s we got the first California Love since PDX 98. It’s a shame that @phishnet refuses to acknowledge these busts out as times played but but I guess those white dudes back East just hate west coast hip hop
And then they fucking played Ass Handed again and I am with @treyanastasio I fucking love that song. It’s punk as fuck and did I mention that this was at a point in my life where I was so depressed over having my Ass Handed to me I almost quit Phish?
Even well known trash songs like Walls of the Cave, Twist, and Number Line didn’t suck on this particular night. Okay they sucksd sorry for lying but sick shit like Carini and Reba more than made up for it
And then the encore. My first Sleeping Monkey at a place called Sleep Train Amphitheatre. Thanks Coors and Cox for dropping naming rights. Ass Handed Reprise (again shame on you @phishnet) and stellar Trey banter that caused Google searches on to go up 2016%. Holy fucking fuck
I can always admit when I am a cunt & wrong & welp the band Ass Handed me my Ass when life handed me my ass the hardest. Thinking I could quit Phish is almost as embarrassing as 555. Rad show rad friends/memories & one of my all time fav shows. It needs a #DAAM screening ASAP
