I don't understand how some are making the conclusion that teachers concerns means we don't want to work. Firstly we worked our butts off during remote learning. Yes, I know you heard from a friend of a friend whose third cousin is a teacher that we did nothing but,
that doesn't make it true, shocking I know. Second I don't know of one teacher who doesn't want to go back to school. We want to do it safely. Retail and healthcare workers are provided with PPE and plexiglass and they're not usually confined to one room with 30+ others for 6+ hr
Are we not entitled to the same safety measures as others? All we're asking for is a safe environment in which to do our jobs. Safe for us and safe for our students. Telling me to quit my job if I don't like the situation is a cop out. That's not a solution and you know it.
I went into this profession because I care about others. If I wanted to make big bucks I could have easily chosen something else thats a heck of a lot easier. Instead I chose teaching because I love the work I do and it matters.
So let's get one thing straight. Teachers are NOT complaining about working, we're fighting, like we always do, for the best interest of those who matter most to us. So if you can't be bothered to support that fight then get out of the way. We've got work to do and we don't have
time to deal with anti-union, anti-mask, science deniers. And if this makes me a "snowflake" then watch out because winter is coming. #FundABPublicSchools #alberta #WearADamnMask #Teachers #TeachersHaveFamiliesToo #TeacherSafetyIsEssential
