We love dualistic thinking.
A is good. B is bad. Either/or. Its simple & easy. You get to pick a side
But most problems require non-dualistic thinking. A and B are both good/bad. That’s much harder. It requires pausing & thinking. Holding contrasting ideas in the same space.

In times of uncertainty we default to assigning dualistic thinking to complex problems. Resist!
For example, playing fall sports likely increases disease spread and causes death. Not playing sports harms mental/physical health and can sink university programs.

We need to embrace reality and acknowledge risks, drawbacks, and challenges of all sides. Defaulting to simplistic either/or, good/bad, my side vs. your side is NOT going to work.
It constrains when we need innovation. We need to embrace the complexity to find novel solutions.
