Based on data acquired from @OpenJusticeBalt, here are the numbers regarding how the State's Attorney's Office does in fact prosecute drug possession, contrary to statements made by SAO in this morning's Sun article.

A thread:

1/
The article stated that SA Mosby's trip to Portugal in May 2019 influenced her decision to no longer prosecute drug possession. Here are data from Baltimore City District/Circuit Court records pertaining to the period between June 2019 and February 2020, before COVID:

2/
Within that period, there were 43,217 charges filed in district court. Of that total, 15,248 charges were handled in district court.

3/
Of the 15,248 charges handled in district court, there were 1,405 charges for different types of simple drug possession.

Of those 1,405 charges, 106 received guilty dispositions, 10 were acquitted, and 50 received probation before judgment.

4/
That amounts to a total of 166 drug possession charges that were in fact prosecuted in district court.

As for the filings handled in circuit court, here are those numbers:

5/
Within the same June 2019 - Feb 2020 period, there were 26,375 charges filed in circuit court.

Of that 26,375, there were 2,702 charges for different types of simple drug possession.

6/
Of those 2,702, 126 were guilty/sentenced, 23 were acquitted, 37 received probation before judgment, and 100 received probation after conviction.

That amounts to a total of 286 drug possession charges prosecuted in circuit court.

7/
SO, the statement that drug possession is not being prosecuted by Mosby's office is very clearly false.
