This is Hazel's field (17 ha). In farm year 2019, we started #farming Hazel's differently, integrating more #conservation measures. (1 of 5)
In the yellow polygon, we now have cultivated areas for arable plants #formerlyknownasweeds. This is under Countryside Stewardship (CS) option AB11. The picture does not quite show the wonderful size of this feature (2 of 5)
In blue, flower-rich margins and plots, CS option AB8 (3 of 5)
And in light green, winter bird food aimed at farmland birds, CS option AB9 (4 of 5)
The remaining area is a more regular shape, which is more efficient to farm. It's also expected to deliver greater, more sustainable yields as it benefits from increased #pollinator abundance around it. Pretty great.
