1️⃣ THE FOUNDATION

Charting the club’s foundation in 1905. In the 1920s the club settled on the location on Calle Brandsen that remains home to this day. Boca also embarked on a pioneering European tour that converted it into Argentina’s most popular.
2️⃣ LA NUESTRA 1.0: THE DAWN OF PROFESSIONALISM

1931 saw the birth of the professional era in Argentine football. Boca picked up where they left off, winning three titles in five years. In 1940 La Bombonera was inaugurated.
3️⃣ THE 1950s

The club won the league in 1954 then had to wait eight years before being crowned champions once again. The 1962 triumph qualified the club to the nascent Copa Libertadores and a crack at continental glory.
4️⃣ THE SWINGING 60s: THE BIRTH OF THE COPA LIBERTADORES

Following on from the success of the European Cup, South American football introduced a continental competition of its own. In 1963 Boca faced Pelé’s formidable Santos over two legs for the right to lift the trophy.
5️⃣ LA NUESTRA 2.0: THE LORENZO ERA

In 1976 former national team boss Juan Carlos “Toto” Lorenzo was named as coach by president Alberto Armando. Lorenzo would lead the club to Copa Libertadores and Intercontinental Cup glory.
6️⃣ MARADONA & THE ‘81 METRO

A young Maradona led Boca to the 1981 title. Rather than heralding a new era, Maradona was soon whisked off to Europe and the club went into financial free fall, almost going out of business in the mid-80s.
7️⃣ ALEGRE & THE 1992 APERTURA

Newly elected president Carlos Alegre saved the club in 1985 and it was under his tenure that Uruguayan coach Óscar Tabárez led Boca to the 1992 title.
8️⃣ MARADONA & THE PRESIDENT

After a rollercoaster 13 years away from La Bombonera the prodigal son returned, and Mauricio Macri was elected as the club president.
9️⃣ THE VICEROY & THE MAGICIAN

Macri’s third managerial appointment, Carlos Bianchi, proved a masterstroke. The coach struck up a strong bond with a young, mercurial number 10 by the name of Juan Román Riquelme and the rest is history.
1️⃣0️⃣ 2000

The club completed the Triple Crown of league title, Copa Libertadores, and Intercontinental Cup, defeating the mighty Real Madrid 2-1 in Tokyo.
1️⃣1️⃣ 2001

Predicted to be a year of transition, instead Boca retained the Copa Libertadores against the backdrop of a crisis back home in Argentina.
1️⃣2️⃣ 2003

Repeating the success of 2000, the returning Bianchi led the club to another Triple Crown.
1️⃣3️⃣ 425 DAYS

Powered by the prolific duo of Rodrigo Palacio and Martín Palermo, Alfio Basile’s side bagged five titles in an unforgettable 425 days in 2005/06.
1️⃣4️⃣ RIQUELME’S RETURN

In 2007, after a sweet and sour spell in Europe, Riquelme returned to Boca and hit the ground running, named the MVP as the club lifted the Copa Libertadores in dominant fashion. The next seven years proved a soap opera in typical Riquelme fashion.
1️⃣5️⃣ TWIN PEAKS

In 2016 Guillermo Barros Schelotto, one of the most decorated players in the club’s history, was named manager. After a slow start the twin, on the bench alongside brother Gustavo, led Boca to 2 league titles and guided the side the 2018 Copa Libertadores final.
1️⃣6️⃣ LA GRAN FINAL

November and December 2018 saw the biggest tie in South American football history as Boca and River, one that garnered unprecedented global media coverage. Weather and violence delayed the fixtures and ultimately it was controversially settled in Madrid.
1️⃣7️⃣ A NEW DAWN

After the Superclásico disappointment in the Copa Libertadores final, the club needed a lift. At the end of 2018 elections ushered in a new regime which would blow fresh air throughout the club, leading to a dramatic late title win in March 2019.
