I stupidly used to think the fascists could be shamed into realizing how far they've strayed from the democratic principles of our republic. But it turns out they like being fascists. We view America as a republic, they view it as their chunk of dirt between lines on a map.

. . . emphasis on "their." This is not about political differences. This is a cold war on democracy, and they keep throwing matches to see if they can spark a hot one. It's no exaggeration to say they're enemies of the republic and enemies of all the people except "theirs."
