Just stumbled across something that caused actual tears of laughter and I have to share it with you.

Researching Barcelona's Christmas markets, I came across an article titled "Curl One Out for Christmas."

Thinking it was a translation error, I clicked the link to find out...
It was not a translation error.

It turns out that in Barcelona, Caga Tió is a 'Christmas log' with a smiling face & red hat.

The log is placed in the living room on the 8th of December and has to be fed daily with traditional Christmas food like turró (Spanish nougat).
The Caga Tió is also covered with a red blanket to keep it warm.

The process of feeding & caring for it continues until Christmas eve. Then, the whole family gather round the log to sing, as the children hit it, with sticks.

They hit the smiley log until it SHITS OUT PRESENTS.
Here's my favourite part. Whilst hitting the log - which has been lovingly cared for for weeks, they also sing El Canço del tió (The song of the log).

This is the English translation, and it is WILD:
Thus concludes today's lesson and I am officially doing this every Christmas for the rest of my life, because it is bloody brilliantly bonkers and hilarious.
