Joelson has made 28 appearances in the Liga Revelacao (Portugal U-23 League) returning 5 goals and 2 assists. While these numbers are not mind blowing, keep in mind that he is 17 years old and has shown flashes of tremendous potential.

Joelson looks to be a top talent at his age, but the price tag is hefty. Predominantly playing left wing Arsenal already have youngsters Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli available to play this position. It makes me wonder where will he fit in?
Mikel Arteta is currently managing a squad that needs immediate improvement. There are glaring needs for a AM, CM, and CB. These positions need immediate improvement for next season if Arsenal want to compete for top 4. It is important to leave funds here as well.
However, Joelson is quite a talent. If the scouting department have identified this player as one for the future, it may be worth investment. A structure of a deal like this would be very key. It would be important to use installments to be able to focus on other areas as well.
A lot of these young players sign contracts with performance based incentives. The 45 Million will scare a lot of people, but there is a minimal chance that Arsenal pay anywhere close to that up front. It will most likely be a performance based incentive transfer.
