im going to take one for the team & just say it: mpreg is NOT transphobic. the only thing transphobic about this situation is assuming pregnancy belongs to women & that masc trans people canât want a male body & pregnancy. this sets a dangerously cisnormative precedent+
the idea that pregnancy should be written only for characters with female anatomy is whack. it comes from a fundamentally cisnormative understanding of what is ânatural.â this influences the assumption that trans people should conform to male or female, nothing in between. +
yes, mpreg has a very toxic legacy. it was by and large created by cispeople. it appropriates both trans & intersex culture by erasing the pain & struggle of queer family creation into a zero-degree solution: pregnancy with a penis. however, its legacy is not its utility +
we deserve to reclaim mpreg as a creative tool for gender-nonconforming individuals to explore their ideal, best selves. trans men that are triggered by pregnancy are valid, anyone triggered by pregnancy is valid. but there are also trans ppl that want their penis & pregnancy.
there are so many reason that cancelling mpreg = the erasure of intersection among the trans community. as a trans man who personally hates my anatomy, pregnancy, and children, I deeply understand this trigger. but the answer is a TRIGGER WARNING, not a witch hunt. +
i am a non-binary trans man who has spent years in LGBTQ centers as a design & pr consultant. our community finds strength in diversity and compassion. transgender is a spectrum, intersex culture is a spectrum +
im writing this for all the trans men I know that are surrogate mothers, for transmen with children who happily call them âmom,â for intersex ppl, for any trans person out there who feels like this means they donât have a right to want a penis & want pregnancy +
to everyone cis that has written mpreg, tho it may not mean much, i forgive you and absolutely donât think u should burn. you have a right to experiment with gender, who knows! you may be trans. But i hope you use this opportunity to educate yourself about LGBTQ realities +
the fury & rage of our community comes from a true place of pain. it comes after lifetimes of cispeople dictating who we ought to be, appropriating our culture, and mpreg is a direct result of mass cis ignorance. And yet, MPREG IS ANYTHING BUT CIS. itâs intersex & trans, itâs us+
by all means, create queer characters, but know their story is real for someone. i believe rp/ff can be an incredibly freeing experience, instructive in helping people realize their full potential selves - it helps otherwise cis people connect with their queer self +
to the trans folks who have spearheaded this cancel movement: I get it, cishets use mpreg flippantly. frankly, itâs disrespectful. this conversation is important. but as I said above, when you bury mpreg, you bury our people! a far more disenfranchised people within the spectrum+
it canât be transphobic if it speaks to lgbtq experience. canât be transphobic as long as trans ppl identify with it. your personal anatomical struggles arenât something everyone has or should cater to, not when so many of us fall in the grey. thereâs no universal trans rule book
so mpreg should have a trigger
anything that involves physical anatomy, trauma, & birth is a trigger. but to my afab & amab friends who want a penis & pregnancy, that is absolutely your right. it doesnât make you a freak. it doesnât make you less of a person. Go write ur story

I was quite respectful of the dominant argument for this movement, but I already knew I wouldnât receive equal treatment. I have the convo muted & twitter notifs off. so if you donât have something constructive to say, hate isnt going to get to me +
I have amab & afab friends that identify with mpreg, and I donât believe we have the right to take that from them. I felt that I may be the only person to shed light on that dimension of the subject. I already knew I was leaving twitter so I really have nothing to lose.
