Morning inspiration: watching #ISOJ2020 keynote session on gender, race and politics with @19thnews' @amzam & @eramshaw
We’re looking at everything through the lens of the asterisk that you can see in our logo. We were interested in the naming concept of the 19th amendment, with the addition of the asterisk to take it back to all women, says @eramshaw. This gets reflected in storytelling.
For us it’s not just a story if there are women involved in the story or because it features a woman, we think about the asterisk as this idea of ‘what’s the disparity, what's the way in which women are disproportionally affected by this' - @eramshaw #ISOJ2020
It's about being intentional, adds @amzam. A lot of the mainstream coverage talks about women, it's not that women are not represented in the news, but we're really trying to speak to and with women about how these policies affect them, Amanda said. #ISOJ2020
