1/ Oh dear, after spending a month complaining about cancel culture, a high profile head has spent the last day trying to 'cancel' the unions.

Differences of opinion is one thing, but allegations of corruption is slanderous

Unions and their finances are more regulated than MATs
2/ Manipulation or representaion a survey where 100s of thousands responded in a few days well over 90% of NEU members supported their stance

As for accusing and then not providing any evidence because there's so much it would take days?
How does that work as critical thinking?
3/ I usually have a lot of time for Katherine, I like good debate and we are always polite and respectful to each other. Personally I see trad vs prog as a spectrum best when blended but I'm probably a little bit more trad than prog, however she's let herself down here, giving in
4/ to beliefs and perception rather than reality. Corruption is a serious and specific allegation and as a low paid full time educator and anti corruption campaigner its personally hurtful,i dont agree with everything the union does, its like a family, we have our disagreements
5/ but even with differing views that I argue with, I know their intentions are good. Some can be cantankerous at times, there's a lot of we don't all agree, but I've also made many good friends, decisions are made by volunteers, who give up their time for free.
6/ The NEU is democratic more tightly bound by trade union laws and the Electoral Commission.

Its why Kartharine's responses are beneath someone of her intelligence. Corrupt? Don't know the people at the top? She's talking to the ppl at the top, they're normal ppl like me.
7/ Its easy to listen to anti union tropes in the papers, which ran repeated smear pieces, double page spreads personally attacking my friends and colleagues.
Misrepresentating the actual NEU policies when a quick check of our website would prove its not true.
8/ 'Bans online learning' No, we just said live lessons had safeguarding issues so certain precautions should be taken
'Refuses to engage' No, we told reps in schools to hold off planning for a couple of days while we sought clarification from DfE,after requests for collaborative
9/ planning were repeatedly ignored.
Now its 'don't want students back in September' check our website we wrote to PM in April saying we should work together to start planning for September before Easter.
But hey, some people just give in to tribalism and propagate a culture war
10/ When I check my phone in an hours time I bet the replies from culture war trolls will be stacking up.
'Unions are bad, Katharine is great' attack, attack, attack. 'Lefty, Marxist, damaging children' all the tired old tropes, what they won't do is provide tangible evidence of
Whats that got to do with allegations of corruption? The unions weren't being sexist or racist. I've always defended Katherine against people being abusive, we debate politely, which is why being accused of corruption without evidence is personally hurtful
