On August 5, the Karnataka High Court will consider prayer seeking to stay the draft #EIAdraft2020 notification published on March 23.
This followed after the Union Government informed the court that as mandated in the Official Languages Act the draft notification can be only published in Hindi and English languages in the official gazette
CJ Abhay Oka said "Prima facie we do not agree with the submission that hands of the resp are tied by virtue of official languages Act."
As regards the arguments that Ministry has directed the State Environment Impact Assessment Committee to transalate and publish the draft #EIA2020draft in local languages.
The court said "There is nothing placed on record that this direction has been implemented."
During the hearing the court observed "You Hurridely passed final order taking advantage of the fact that most of the people considering the present situation will not be able to file objections."
