Recently Mika Brzezinski stated about Trump: "He was way worse than anyone thought he would be... We never thought that we would be seeing this. Nobody did."

But Mika and Joe have still not reckoned with how their coverage of the 2016 campaign brought us to where we are today.

Joe in October 2016 wrote that the upcoming election presented Americans with "the worst presidential choice in U.S. history."

Remember, too, how Joe argued in October 2016 that voters had Clinton fatigue because they "keep doing stuff that crosses the line. They keep doing stuff that requires investigation ... and then it's 'poor poor pitiful me.'"

You get the sense that Joe and Mika never shared the kind of laughs with Hillary Clinton the way they do with Trump here when they ask him to associate one word with a name and then laugh as he proceeds to call Jeb a "loser" and Hillary "evil" but he's "brilliant." Putin said so!

The endless outrage about the emails.... "weighing her campaign down." It's baked in that she's "untrustworthy."

Joe goes so far as to say that President Obama had just "made it up" when he went no 60 minutes and stated that Clinton hadn't jeopardized national security earlier in the year. He and Mika express their outrage that she somehow wasn't indicted by Comey.

There were also an endless number of condescending tweets about the Clinton campaign and her email "scandal."

What's really so shocking is that a story that literally had no foundation in anything meaningful literally became so huge that it derailed a presidential campaign and there has yet to be reckoning by the press about their role in it.

If it was so important than why when Ivanka and Jared got caught using their own private email servers as advisors to POTUS it hardly any scrutiny at all.

We know now Hillary Clinton spoke the truth all along. Only much of the press amplified mostly blown-up conspiracies and untruths that made her come across as untrustworthy and corrupt.

We should all be demanding that those who participated in this modern-day witch hunt atone

Many of us saw what was coming in 2016 but could do little to counter the endless assault of the press amplifying false equivalencies between the Trump and Clinton candidacies. We knew democracy was at stake. Why didn't they?

Joe Scarborough never gets his facts right either. On November 1st (a week before) the election he states that no major party had ever nominated a candidate under FBI investigation. Howard Dean pushed back - but Joe just laughed at him. And check Mika's expressions.
