I'm worried about the disconnect between local areas choosing to close schools and our federal gov not providing resources to help those affected by school closures.
I thought, and still think, schools could've been opened at least in some areas where case levels are low. There would need to many mitigations though, masks, distancing, alternating days, reduce movement around campus, older students still remote, etc.
But now case levels in a lot of areas are rising, and some places it would be crazy to send staff and teachers back to work. I'm not mad at that, a few more months until we hopefully get a vaccine isn't going to permanently destroy kids' futures.
I am however mad that some parents won't be able to work because of it, and the federal gov wants to reduce unemployment benefits. I'm mad that some students won't be provided a laptop or have internet access at home.
Just needed to vent cause we really screwed the pooch. Wear a mask, stay outside when your hanging out with your friends, we can beat this. It gets tiring and feels hopeless sometimes when you see people still downplaying everything but if you're doing your part, thank you.
