Big crowd downtown at Madison and 3rd waiting for Mayor Ted Wheeler’s arrival.

Crowd is growing. Space carved out on the sidewalk for Wheeler is shrinking.

The mayor had arrived and is trying to push through the crowd to get to where the speaker is set up.

He’s asking everyone to give him space to speak. It’s not working.

Mayor is now speaking saying this is a listening session. It’s not clear anyone in the back can hear. Sustained chants of fuck Ted wheeler.

Wheeler now in a one on one with a medic. The mic keeps going in and out.

Protesters tells mayor Daryl Turner has taken over as police comissioner. Wheeler says “I can not control Daryl Turner.”

Wheeler asked about giving police bureau to Hardesty. He says all bureaus are up from grabs once new council members come on but he will not be giving it up in near future.
