What is financial independence? It is available to all of us because it is a power we find within ourselves. It is the power to thrive at a certain level of money. Who controls that level of money? Each of us do as individuals, of course. 1/5
No one forces you to thrive only when you have $100,000 to your name. You can choose to thrive with $30,000 a year or you can choose to thrive at far less or far more. The lower the number, the stronger your power. 2/5
That power is yours to exercise, and so financial independence is achievable insofar as you seize that power and are intentional about it. 3/5
In the same way, financial independence is a mental state. It is an attitude toward life. An acceptance that you will thrive regardless of the money you have in hand. An attitude that money will not affect your well-being. A mental state of satisfaction. 4/5
Taken to the extreme, such a mental state would mean you would spend very little, as your needs are small. Which would have the paradoxical consequence that you would save immense amounts of money and be far wealthier than your peers. 5/5
