Main Event Strategy Thread
Now that my Main Events are all done, it's time to explain my "controversial" strategy. In every draft I got 3 regular closers and often quite early in the draft. The way I see it is you need 2.5 closers to be 80th percentile in steals and when you
draft 3, you expect to end up with 2 or 2.5. We all say the TGFBI bids on guys like Britton and Burdi, closers will cost a fortune in FAAB. I don't think there's a big gap between the hitters that go in the 8th round and those I can get in rounds 15-20 but the gap is huge between
Colome, Leclerc, Jimenez and the late guys like Will Smith, Magill, Helsley, Oberg etc. I prefer to trust myself to find starters and hitters instead of getting lucky with a MR or overpaying in FAAB.

As for the early starting pitching, I have Paxton, Lynn, Boyd, Carrasco,
Maeda and Wheeler all in my 25 and then I have very little interest in SP's until J.A. Happ in round 19. I wanted 3 or 4 of my top 25 in every draft and then I was fine with waiting.

When you combine those two it makes for a very heavy pitching strategy but I think the
late value is in the hitting. Adam Frazier is available in the 25th round of every draft and he'll be hitting 3rd and playing every day. For some reason we all see the upside in Dylan Bundy and imagine what he could do if he puts it all together.
However, we have a hard time imagining Starlin Castro or Kolten Wong finishing as top 40 hitters, yet they have a better chance of returning top 5 round value than Bundy, especially in a short season. Josh Bell was the 6th best hitter after 60 games last year...
