2) To date, Montreal public health officials have not really addressed this question, especially in the Gay Village, leaving it up to the Gay community to take the necessary precautions. As the #pandemic progresses, we’re likely to learn more about this issue.
3) For those who may not read my latest column, #COVID19 is not a sexually transmitted infection. But socializing without #PhysicalDistancing at large house parties, in bars, as well as at peep shows, bathhouses and saunas can accelerate the transmission of the #coronavirus.
4) Meanwhile, more evidence is emerging of the #COVID resurgence in Montreal, especially in the downtown borough of Ville-Marie and the Plateau Mont-Royal. The resurgence is nearly all at the community level in Ville-Marie and the increase is striking. See the chart below.
5) And as you can glimpse from the dark blue bars in this other chart below, the Plateau Mont-Royal has been witnessing exclusively community transmission of the #coronavirus in the last few days. Adjacent Mile End is also reporting a lot of viral transmission.
6) The latest figures also suggest a flux in the spread of #COVID19. The chart below shows the health district of Dorval—Lachine—LaSalle posted the most #COVID cases Wednesday, followed by the Sud-Ouest. The number of new cases has dropped in the Plateau. But this may be a blip.
7) Overall, Montreal declared 61 new #COVID cases on Wednesday, down from 92 on Tuesday. But as the orange line in the chart below indicates, the metropolis is still in the midst of a resurgence, a trend that is also being observed in other Canadian cities, unfortunately.
8) The good news is Montreal didn't declare any #COVID fatalities for the fourth day in a row. Still, Quebec posted four fatalities, raising its death toll to 5,662. For added context, a jurisdiction that’s reporting a slightly higher number is Pakistan, with 5,677 deaths.
9) Although hospitalizations have been trending down, a source informed me tonight the Lakeshore General Hospital in Pointe-Claire has admitted three #COVID cases in the past six days. Is this the start of an uptick in hospitalizations? Still way too early to tell. End of thread.
