Are nation state actors behind the Twitter hack? Right now my hypothesis is: more likely curious teens than APT. Why? Geert Wilders' compromised DM to Dutch woman loosely translates to "Wassup I'll add you on snapchat, you're hot". Until Twitter confirms, this is just hypothesis.
If you speak the language and have a better translation please do let me know. I don't speak the language and am going off context clues, loose translation, and conversations with others. I do not know the slang personally and would like to hear your thoughts.
So far I have:
wat is je snap = what is your snap (ie. what is your Snapchat)
ik voeg je straks toe = I'll add you later (ie. I'll add you later on Snapchat)
je bent lekker = you're hot

You might also wonder, wouldnt an APT speak this way and act more like a curious teen to mask them actually being an APT? Yes, absolutely that’s a possibility. I’m going the Occam’s razor route in hypothesizing that the simplest explanation is most likely the right one.
Also, teens can be nation state actors too, possible for sure. Teens can be amazing hackers, some of the best in the world (also: don’t dox hackers, don’t dox minors, ever). I’m hypothesizing that this specific attacker’s motivation seems more teen stuff than nation state stuff.
