How to Trade 101

Thread

Trades can be the most advantageous part of fantasy. But too few players know how to execute properly. #FantasyFootball #tradeordie
1. Be in an active league (this cannot be understated). Too many leagues have ppl who check out after the draft and if their team turns out alright they’ll be too afraid to change the roster. League mates who want to be engaged make the overall experience better #tradingadvice
2. Don’t send disrespectful trade offers! If you send an offer that no one in their right mind would accept, you’re going to limit your opportunity to make a trade happen with that league mate in the future, or end any discussion on the current trade.
3. Don’t send the house on the first offer. Identify a player you want. Come up with the most you’d agree to send in a trade for that player. Then walk it back to a lesser but reasonable offer before you send. And if you have to, slowly work your way back to that max offer
4. Don’t be discouraged if you are rejected. Most ffb players become very infatuated with their team; even if they aren’t performing. Sometimes you can make a clearly favorable offer and your league mates may not accept it.
5. Don’t be annoying. A persistent trader will flirt with this line. But if a league mate says a player is off limits, don’t keep sending repetitive offers. Move on to a comparable player.
6. Identify the teams’s deficiencies and try to better their team to acquire the player you want. If a team is stacked at WR and lacks at TE, don’t send WRs to acquire a RB. Make their team better too.
7. This circles back to having an engaged league, but know your league mates. If a LM is a #Broncos fan, he may be more inclined to pay more for a player like Cortland Sutton. Use that to your advantage.
8. In dynasty leagues, first round draft picks are valuable. But, a first round pick is not always worth an established player. Inversely, if an established player is offered for your first, it is okay to trade that first. #dynastytrades #FantasyFootball
