my theory about mermaids:

shallow water mermaids would basically be royalty, they would stand out due to their beautiful dark skin and they would be the most civilised since they see more humans and can learn off their interactions i’d think shallow water mermaids would be the second smallest group since+

they are most exposed to being seen by people however that must also mean that they are really strong, powerful, confident etc they would learn how to defend and attack etc

the largest group of mermaids would be the ones that live below the shallow water mermaids mainly because they aren’t exposed to as many humans and despite that they obviously would work under the rule of shallow water mermaid which means that they would still be quite civilised

i would think shallow water mermaids would have those who edge more towards the deep water mermaids be their sort of army since they depend more on their instincts and aren’t as bright

so basically they would be like working class

and then deep water mermaids are the coolest of all, they’re completely blind and super pale, like a vampire with super sensitive skin, they go by only their instincts and are feral killing machines

not saying that all of them are completely like that, i would think the ones that live closer to the middle of the ocean they would be the type to try and destroy the kingdom etc

but i think there would be a couple of these mermaids at the shallow water mermaids disposal, trained like a dog i suppose made to fight and kill possible threats that could endanger shallow water mermaids lives

okay but everyone would think deep water mermaids are evil but really it’s shallow water mermaids, like they’re so cunning they’re so pretty they could seduce anyone probably and i bet deep water mermaids aren’t even that bad like what if it’s just what shallow water mermaids

told everyone to stay away from deep water mermaids and the ones they keep to kill sailors and such are probably drugged

to be perfectly honest i have no clue what mermaids are the true evil but i think that mermaids aren’t nice creatures i think they’re ruthless, made to kill and protect the ocean of course

i think middle water mermaids would be the ones most likely to leave the ocean and live forever on land, altho i think the pull to stay near the ocean would be quite strong however because of how they’re treated by shallow water mermaids i would think they’d leave for better life
