America's military needs a president who leads by example, not by tweet. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2020/07/22/military_needs_a_president_who_leads_by_example_not_by_tweet.html
Trump likes to say he supports the troops, but he dodged the draft with claims of bone spurs. . .He trivialized the grief of widows and parents who lost their spouses and children in military service.
As an Afghanistan vet myself - and a former GOP congressman who served on Armed Services - I am disappointed Trump cared little when intelligence came to him suggesting the Russian government paid the Taliban bounties to kill American troops in Afghanistan like me.
Trump enjoys parading around military equipment and being photographed with troops in uniforms. But he fundamentally misunderstands the soul of the American soldier. It isn’t the hardware or uniforms that makes our military, its the dedication to duty and selfless sense of honor.
