It just occurred to me that IRON MAN came out a year before AVATAR, so why is it that AVATAR is the movie that feels like it came out 22 years ago?
Everyone is responding with answers along the lines of us getting 20+ MCU movies so Iron Man has never gone away. But it's less about IRON MAN feeling like it came out just a few years ago, more about AVATAR feeling like it came out two decades ago.
AVATAR fascinates me in that it left almost no footprint culturally but a meteor crater-sized footprint technologically. A HUGE impact on visual effects that advanced filmmaking with ripples still being felt today, yet virtually no lasting impact on the pop culture tapestry.
