Several people have asked about postdoc fellowships. There're a wide range. It's important to figure out which you are eligible for/interested in early, as deadlines sneak up on you! Here's an incomplete thread of fellowships you could bring to @UofGravity to do awesome science https://twitter.com/cplberry/status/1285936865426776066
Stephen Hawking Fellowships (deadline November) are for those with PhDs but no permanent academic position. Good for junior researchers. They are open to applicants worldwide https://www.ukri.org/funding/funding-opportunities/stephen-hawking-fellowships/
UKRI Future Leadership Fellowships (next deadline January, check for later deadlines). Open to any early career researcher who'll have a PhD by the time they'll start https://www.ukri.org/funding/funding-opportunities/future-leaders-fellowships/
1851 Research Fellowships (deadline February) are researchers with < 3 years of postdoc experience. You need a PhD by the time you start from an institution other than your host https://www.royalcommission1851.org/awards/
RAS Research and Norman Lockyer Fellowships are only open some years (like 2021, deadline October). They are open to everyone < 5 years after your PhD (excluding career breaks) https://ras.ac.uk/awards-and-grants/fellowships/2330-fellowship-call
For many of these fellowships, institutions can only put forward a small number of applicants. Therefore they will internally select candidates. This means that you need to get in touch way ahead of the deadline (normally before applications open) to ensure you can be considered
The STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowship (deadline September) is a more senior fellowship. You need to hold a PhD and have an established research record at time of application, and these often lead to permanent positions

L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women In Science Fellowships (next deadline January) are for women in science with PhDs but < 10 years of postdoc experience and no permanent position. This one is only for 12 months

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (deadline September) are for those with PhDs who started their PhD > 4 years ago. You need to move country, hopefully the UK will still be eligible as a host in the future. Applications are involved, but funding is generous https://ec.europa.eu/research/mariecurieactions/actions/individual-fellowships_en
European Research Council Starting Grants (deadline are for people of any nationality with 2 to 7 years of postdoc experience. These grants are really great (€1.5 million over 5 years), so I hope the UK remains eligible https://erc.europa.eu/funding/starting-grants
If you have spent 3 years out of the last 5 at a research institute in the the Netherlands, you can apply for a Rubicon Fellowship (deadline usually March) to take you abroad. This is for people fresh from their PhD
https://www.nwo.nl/en/funding/our-funding-instruments/nwo/rubicon/index.html
If you are a Swiss resident or spent at least 2 years at a Swiss institution, the SNSF Postdoc.Mobility Fellowship (deadlines Feb & Aug) funds research abroad (before returning to Switzerland) if you've completed your PhD in the last 3 years http://www.snf.ch/en/funding/careers/postdoc-mobility/Pages/default.aspx
US citizens can apply for a Fullbright Scholarship (deadline September) to come to the UK. These are extremely competitive
