Here’s the bust of Roger Taney that the House just voted 305-113 to remove, along with the statues of confederates. Taney was the Chief Justice who wrote the Dred Scott decision. The thread has all the statues. (The 113 opposed were all Republicans.) https://twitter.com/mmcauliff/status/1271205506959446017
Watch Rep. Paul Mitchell (R-Mich.) shaking his head in apparent disgust as Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) insists on a roll call vote to remove the confederate statues, instead of just calling it. Mitchell gave a speech not long before backing removal.
Here are the 113 Rs who voted to keep confederate statues. Among them are usual suspects like Gaetz, Steve King and Gohmert. One of the more surprising nays was Lee Zeldin, who represents the Hamptons. He broke with Pete King, who voted for removal. http://clerk.house.gov/cgi-bin/vote.asp?year=2020&rollnumber=156#N
Actually, checking the whole NY delegation, Lee Zeldin is the only one who voted to keep the confederate statues in the Capitol. Even the new guy who was sworn in yesterday and Trump raved about, Chris Jacobs, voted to boot the Rebs.
