Spengler predicted that with the transition from High Culture to Civilization, we'd return to a "Zoological Time" without History proper. Here at (or past?) the peak of Faustian Civ, this sensation increases with each passing year - time since Election '16 has been a blur
There is a feeling of events marching onward but also taking on a monotonous sameness, the feeling that tomorrow - barring the bigly unforeseen - will be the same as today. But with Faustian Man always desiring expansion, this creates a very strong sense of constraint
That I think is where the impulse to space exploration comes from - that since the whole Terrestrial sphere was won by the Faustians, some frontier was required. If the HLI-Uranian-Counter-Elite agenda is real, it would at least provide an antidote for boredom
Faustian Man in particular suffers when he feels that there is no advancement, and is the most obsessively historical of all the types known up 'til now. So, the feeling of falling off, loss of dynamism, is a particularly hard hit for him to take, psychologically
On the other hand, there's also the extent to which obsession with technics and motion becomes a curse, like a very severe case of demonic possession. There's a non-trivial chance that we see some kind of serious reaction against the whole project of Faustian Civ *from within*
