I know what people are going to say. But. Given that on a PK the keeper basically has to guess which side the PKer is going to and then do a coin-flip dive on contact, why not set up *one step* to either side before the kick, and basically tempt the PKer to go to the wide side?
I understand that if the keeper does that, a decently-struck ball to the wide side will score every time, but as it is, 75% of PKs score. This way, the keeper would at least have a decent chance of knowing which side it's going to. I feel like it's worth trying.
Plus, given that certain guys like to go to one side or the other, the keeper could shade the other way and force them into trying their weaker side.
