When you engage in torture, when you allow Rendition without warrant and Indefinite Detention without trial, when we allow our government to maintain Black Sites in the name of security, when Extraordinary Means becomes business as usual, then THIS became inevitable.

When we released government from the restrictions of the Constitution because we demanded safety from terrorism, then it was inevitable -- absolutely inevitable -- that our own government would one day come to regard US as the terrorists.

When the only thing standing between totalitarianism and the citizen is the supposed morality of politicians THEN TOTALITARIANISM IS INEVITABLE.
