Grab a seat, kids. Let's talk about the American healthcare system again.

About eight months ago I moved from my Lantus to Basaglar for my long lasting insulin because the Lantus was no longer covered under my plan. (1/7)
Annoying, for sure, especially since I wasn't notified of the change. We got it sorted and I switched to the Basaglar and figured out the right dosage for me. Then, when I go to refill my Basaglar today, it comes up as TEN times the price than what I've been paying. (2/7)
Obviously, I'm not paying that and I've got another week's worth of Basaglar to figure it out. I call my insurance company and we do some digging and figure out that the Basaglar is no longer covered, and again I wasn't notified.

You want to know what insulin is covered? (3/7)
If you guessed Lantus, then congratulations! Eight months ago, I switched AWAY from Lantus because it wasn't covered. But now, all of a sudden, it is covered again! Because of some arbitrary reason that neither me nor the rep are aware of. (4/7)
This healthcare system is fundamentally broken and desperately needs to be changed. I'm lucky enough to have great coverage even with the occasional headache over stuff like this. (5/7)
Too many diabetics aren't, and too many don't have the mental capacity to deal with random, unpredictable changes like this for literally no reason. This shit is ridiculous, and needs to be added to the pile of crap we need changed in this country. People are dying. (6/6)
Oh, also, since your feed has probably returned to normal, please continue to remember that Black Lives Matter and that we need to arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor, Elijah Mcclain, and so so many more. (7/7)
