We're getting ready to join a Zoom call with KSHSAA where they are discussing the plan for fall sports this coming school year. Thread to follow with updates...
starting with this, students learning remotely with at least five new subjects are eligible to participate in KSHSAA sponsored activities
The above policy passes unanimously
Portion of the hygiene guidelines. Masks to be worn at all times except with directly participating in the activity
They're going through specific activities now, starting with Cross Country. Advising limited crowd sizes and to wear face coverings when needed
Volleyball: discouraging any tournaments, quads would be the largest gathering of member schools
Football: stringent cleaning policies, jamborees would be discouraged. Social distancing guidelines on the sidelines for those not participating
Player box would be extended from the 25 yard line to the 10 yard line to help with social distancing for student-athletes and coaches. Media advised to take that into consideration
Girls golf: shotgun start format recommended
boys soccer: recommended just one competition per week, shin guard cleaning after each use
full guidelines approved to be released to the public shortly
Now discussing the outcome of today's vote to not delay the start of schools statewide
Executive board going through a possible start date and whether to delay or start practicing Aug. 17. Decision on start date *may* not come today depending on how the discussion goes
