Indigenous Climate Action (ICA) and Migrant Workers Alliance for Change (MWAC) have come together to make these posts to support solidarity between our communities (2/9)

Migrants can be Indigenous, too. Many migrants, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous alike are forced to migrate as a result of systems of oppression (i.e. capitalism and imperialism) (3/9)

Though there are differences between our communities, the experiences of Indigenous Peoples and migrants in so-called Canada are similar in many ways due to government decisions that negatively affect us (4/9)

Indigenous Peoples and migrants often feel a loss of identity as a result of displacement, such as feeling disconnected from their family, culture, or land. Our communities often hold a deep and sacred love for our families, and Mother Earth (5/9)

Since the arrival of Chinese migrants to work on the railroads who were taken care of and in some cases integrated into the Sto:lo Nation - there is an ongoing history of migrant people and Indigenous Peoples working together (8/9)
