Alright, academics. As I've been writing/rewriting/revising, I've been thinking a lot about the good writing advice that I've received over the years. So, I'm curious: what's the best writing advice you've received?
I'll start with this: I'm currently most thankful that *multiple* people told me to let the dissertation sit for at least a year before revising.
At the time, I did the whole "smile & nod" thing, but I did listen! And I'm glad I did. Not only do I know what the stakes of the book are now, but I also had time to really think about what was important.
