12 years later, is everyone finally ready to admit he was completely right on each and every point?
This moment, of @RonPaul standing his ground on principle amidst immense popular sentiment against his position, was one of my first big political *wake-ups* of my life
I'd never seen anything like it.
Someone who actually believed in what he said and was prepared to defend.

It's interesting looking back & remembering the way that Dr Paul was portrayed by the media - both in this '08 campaign but even more critically in '12.
Media perception dictates lived reality, and when they declare he's "unelectable" unfortunately 95% of folks go along with it.

Back then, it was one of the first times I felt like I was crazy.
Like I was watching a completely different screen from everyone else.
Like I was the only one unplugged from the Matrix.
Because the positions, performance, etc didn't matter - only the manufactured consensus.

It's so deviously powerful. We saw the same dismissive tactics used against @BernieSanders & especially @AndrewYang in our most recent election cycle.
Purposefully leaving them out of polls, dismissing their chances, giving them 1/10th the airtime as the "approved" candidates…

@EricRWeinstein has done a great monologue on how broken our current system is.
But in addition to disrupting the archaic (and corrupt) "party" systems we have now, I also think we will have to break free from the media-dictated "reality" that most form their opinions from too.

Anyway, just rambling. Wanted an excuse to post some Ron Paul in his prime.
My money is on not even having debates this Fall, but as I'm sure you will agree, if they do happen they will likely be a shitshow.
With a fraction of the substance in the video above.

It's really a shame that back in '08 and '12 the collective populace had much less room for inconformity.
It's a shame that the media and all those that we shared a reality with back then had a more simplistic, dictated, automatic response to candidates "outside the mainstream."

Looking back at that moment now, I believe that vast majority of Americans would agree with everything he is saying. A complete 180 from what we were told was the case then.
At the time it was small single digits % that were supportive. And it was an unpopular position, to boot!

Goes to show that mainstream 'consensus' can be completely unrooted from reality at any time - especially when looking backwards w the blessing of hindsight.
9 out of 10 of those bozos agreed on what turned out to be completely failed policies.
One man objected & he was mocked.

Remember this when you next consider 'acceptable' or 'electable' positions in the future.
Remember this too when the media next tries to push you towards a foregone, mainstream conclusion.
"You're not out of control, you're just out of their control."

Men of principle are a rarity. Our current political environment is certainly lacking in this regard.
However, when we do find someone with close to the intellectual consistency, honesty, and integrity that @RonPaul always had…
I'll be right there with you on the front lines.
