I want to tell you a story about aviation and vice presidential picks.
Aviation holds no secrets. In 2004, a worker spotted a Kerry-Edwards decal being affixed to the Kerry Campaign 757 inside paint hangar the day before the John Edwards announcement.
In 2008, I spotted a Netjets flight plan flying between Chicago-Midway to Wilmington, DE. The plane was carrying the Obama Campaign’s advance team the day prior to Joe Biden being announced as Obama’s VP pick. https://web.archive.org/web/20130406210735/http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/flightblogger/2008/08/vice-presidential-picks-and-pl.html
N863QS, a Hawker 800, flew on to Scranton, PA the next day where Biden was born and then on to Denver for the Democratic National Convention. https://web.archive.org/web/20130406210735/http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/flightblogger/2008/08/vice-presidential-picks-and-pl.html
In 2012, I spotted Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan looking to cover his tracks on the way to the Norfolk, VA announcement rally with Mitt Romney. He crossed with his family into Illinois for a private jet flight to Elizabeth City, N.C. and drove to nearby VA. https://twitter.com/jonostrower/status/234157619038806016
2016 was weird. Because 2016.
In 2020, who knows if flying will spill the secret Joe Biden's running mate, but just remember, there’s always an aviation angle.
