2. One mentor for life: You need different mentors for different areas and phases in life. You should have mentors that are relevant to the goal for the mentorship in the first place.
3. Focusing only on experience: I have had mentors who are my peers and even colleagues. Sometimes, experience is not the only thing that matters. Also, remember that your peer or colleague could be the one giving you that dream job in a few years. Don't underestimate them.
4. Looking for You: Your mentor must not be the same with you. Your mentor must not be perfect, no one is. Stop looking for your look alike but instead what you need from that person that can help you grow.
5. One-sided relationship: Everytime, the only thing you do is ask and ask. You need to give as well. It could be your time, experience no matter how little, celebrating their wins etc..The relationship should be mutually beneficial.
