Now that I'm home from the National Archives I thought I'd do a little thread about my visit!!
Firstly, absolutely all of the staff members were really lovely and encouraging! As you enter through the doors you've got a staff member or two positioned in the foyer that take your name and then point you towards the bag checks
At the bag checks there's a queue line set out with all of the floor stickers pointing at where you should stand in order for you to be appropriately socially distanced! I arrived at around 10:45 so I missed any initial rush and I didn't have to queue for the checks at all!
After bag checks (you put your bag on the table while the staff member stands 2m away, and then you move back so they can move forwards to check your bags) you're sent off to the locker room where your locker number matches the seat number you've been assigned on your ticket.
If you're like me and you've never been to the NA before and need to show two forms of ID in order to get a reading pass, I suggest leaving your laptop and things in your locker at first!
You'll have to go up to the first floor in order to get your reading pass and they'll just send you straight back downstairs afterwards as you're not allowed any paper/extra documents in the reading room. Basically don't do what I did and lug your laptop places you don't need to!
Once you're finally in the reading room your trolley, filled with the documents you've ordered, should be beside your numbered desk. The trolley has been sterilised and all documents have been in quarantine before you arrive so touching them all is completely safe.
If you're like me and you turn up at your table and there isn't a trolley in sight, then head out of the room to the info desk because there's a high chance you might be in a separate room because your documents are too big

Snake weights and the foam things I've forgotten the name of are kept in plastic boxes outside of the reading room, just ask a member of staff if you can take one and then you can keep it with you for your whole visit :)
I don't know how many bathrooms are available for public use, but the one on the first floor by the lift was accessible and super clean!
You can't bring any drinks or anything into the reading rooms, and nearly every food place I could find in Kew was closed so I really suggest you bring drinks and food to store in your locker so you can consume those once you're outside the reading room.
Again...don't be like me. I didn't drink or eat anything from 8am-3pm and it really really didn't go well

((in regards to public transport, the district line was dead quiet and if you're like me and are coming from south east london I really can't recommend the cannon street route enough!))
~A n y w a y~ I still have a case study due today to work on so imma go do that now and munch on a bunch of sugary sweets while I do so! :3
