The Heinrich Schliemann (LIN-ACD875)
This one’s something of a mystery
Possibly a cruciform foot, or a 'spangle' from a pin head, later converted or reused as a pendant.
Whatever it is…or was, the Salin Style I dates it to early C6th.
Lincolnshire

The V. Gordon Childe (SF-EF76BD)
A detachable side knob [stop it] from a Florid Cruciform
The lug visible on the reverse originally attached it to the headplate of the brooch with an iron pin

The Mortimer Wheeler (NCL-330C32)
My personal favourite…

Another fantastically complete example of a Florid Cruciform, almost identical to one found at the Roman fort of Benwell, Newcastle, suggesting they came from the same workshop/artisan!
Ponteland, Northumberland

Of course, it would be rude to cover Cruciforms in such detail […] without a H/T to the archaeologist who’s worked so hard […] on them.
So I present:
The Toby Martin (SF-EBE5C4)
Another side knob [really, enough], with lovely haunting eyes…
mid Suffolk

And one more...
Certainly a famous archaeologist, & the most important one in our lives... but unfortunately no moustache!
(consider it @Tostig1066?)
So we've gone instead for early medieval button brooch (c.AD475-550)
The Michael Lewis (NARC-C8A442)
Milton Keynes
