More than 1 thing can be true at the same time. DUP certainly can't evade criticism. But Alliance & friends consistently prioritised avoiding checks/infrastructure at Irish land border over seamless trade with our biggest market in GB. Indeed, when pushed they continue to do so. https://twitter.com/naomi_long/status/1285903295400353792
You can't absolve yourself from any consequences of your choices for the rest of time, because of Brexit. They thought preserving our links with RoI should be prioritised over avoiding new barriers between GB & NI. That's an economic & political choice.
Just saying 'own it' for the rest of time doesn't add (or mean) anything much. Responsibility for defending political and economic choices didn't end after Brexit.
Actually, this decision was probably guided as much by Alliance's own ideological preference for keeping NI tied as closely to the EU as possible, than any cold-eyed assessment of our economic interests.
