On marketers, newsletters, and unknown callers.

A mini thread.
We have a love-hate relationship with newsletters.

We love to read our favourite ones (s/o _@sairamkrishnan). But when it comes to creating one, we tend to put it in our backseat because we have more “pressing matters” to attend to for our company’s growth and traffic
Months of pondering over this led me to a stupidly simple but not so obvious realization:

It’s very rare that we’ll answer my phone if it’s an unknown caller. And it’s very rare that we’ll consume a piece of content by a creator that we don’t know much about.
That led me to realise that the “pressing matter” that has made me lose a large chunk of the hair on my head over the last few years will always keep pressing if we don’t become a known contact in our audience’s phone.
Yes, the contact number = email address. And the audience’s phone = their inbox.
With that, we decided to kickstart our experiment and move the newsletter from our backseat and put it next to the driver’s seat.

And sent out the very first newsletter about the awesome content over at the SendX blog on Email Marketing.
And we’ve made it a point to send it out every single week from now on, with practical tips on doing email marketing a little bit better and building a quality audience as a result.
So if you’re one of the marketers who’s been thinking about newsletters. There are two things which you should do before 2020 comes up with another surprise.
1. Start that newsletter. It might not pay off in the short term, but in the long run, there’s very little downside and the upsides are huge.
2. Follow us on our journey and get inside the @sendxio email list to get up to date email marketing tips: https://www.sendx.io/blog/subscribe
