Let's discuss the Anc's govt response to Covid-19. The govt did a lockdown, yet the govt knew it didn't have similar resources to countries like the Europeans and Chinese. Our lockdown did nothing for us, because the virus is spreading nonetheless
What our lockdown has actually achieved, is the further destruction of an already fragile economy. Is the health sector ready as promised, the answer is no. So we wasted 3 months in lockdown hoping an incapable state will suddenly be capable in that period.
We praise actions like the banning of cigarette and alcohol, which have done nothing to aid our fight against this pandemic. Instead of getting our health sector ready, the already looting Anc deployees have had a field day looting some more.
At the end of this lockdown, we will still have thousands of deaths, unstoppable infections but also as a bonus, a destroyed economy. Furthermore, we know that a lockdown was in name only, large parts of SA simply never locked down, meaning infections spread anyway.
Much of the blame for us having an incapable state lies with the Anc.They ensured that the state was deskilled, through deployment and moving in homeland civil servants who weren't properly skilled. Today, the state can hardly do anything properly.
Today we have a bloated, highly paid civil service that can't deliver anything properly. Right across the board, state institutions are failing, from police, education, prosecution and health. None of these sectors is in good shape.
With failing state institutions, both intentionally and through incompetence, corruption has increased as thieves feel they are safe from any consequences. A post covid SA will be a far harsher place than pre covid. This pandemic has speeded up our journey to failed state.
