We already knew Ohio's HB6 sucked and this 2019 article by @drvox confirms it was already known that campaign donations correlated to HB6 support. It was terrible then and it's even worse now that it's explicitly tied to bribery charges. Burn it down
https://www.vox.com/platform/amp/energy-and-environment/2019/7/27/8910804/ohio-gop-nuclear-coal-plants-renewables-efficiency-hb6
"In OH, nuclear supporters made a deal with the devil, throwing their lot in with coal plants and anti-renewables legislators in the pocket of big utilities... Renewable energy investors, developers, and advocates will remember that the next time a nuclear plant needs their help"
If nuclear plants and their utilities can't succeed without corruption and without explicitly tying themselves to coal and the destruction of support for other clean energy sources, they don't deserve taxpayer money at the very least
If your argument is "well the renewable industry hates us anyway".... so you're arguing since they don't already like us we should instead go balls to the wall throwing our lot in with coal?
I'm not pretending we're one step away from holding hands with renewables advocates. Now, there's certainly an arugment to be made here that they'll hate us THAT MUCH MORE if we're involved in keeping coal running, but I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader
Keep our eyes on the prize here. The goal is lower emissions and cleaner energy. Also a world where corruption doesn't reign supreme over our government systems. That's where I'm focused, and if you're aiming for a different goal then we're just talking past each other
