Do you think the next decade will be the age of ageing better? #AgeOfAgeingBetter
"We must look ourselves in the eye. And ask ourselves what future do we want, an Age of Ageing Better or an Age of Ageing Badly?," says @DrAnnaDixon
"When we look at all those in their 50s, 60s and 70s and simply see ‘wealthy boomers’, the 1.6 million pensioners living in absolute poverty across the UK become invisible." #AgeOfAgeingBetter
"But I’m particularly interested in those born in the 1960s. This was a significant baby boom: between 1960 and 1969, there were over 8.3 million births in the UK. We can see this age shift in action. You can see here that 20 years ago there were 9.3 million people over 65."
"That means the age shift in the UK is only just getting started." #AgeofAgeingBetter
"In response to the COVID crisis, the whole world en masse undertook probably the biggest and fastest social, legal, and political transformation in human history." #AgeOfAgeingBetter
"As we rebuild our communities, finding ways to bring these volunteers back safely and inclusively will be vital – as well as harnessing the enthusiasm of the hundreds of thousands of new volunteers." #AgeOfAgeingBetter
"It’s critical we build better for the future. Homes that allow us to live a full and fulfilling life when we are older. Homes with decent space, decent facilities and decent connectivity." #AgeOfAgeingBetter
"Employers need to do more to support workers with health conditions and disability to gain and remain in work and the government should introduce rights to carer’s leave similar to parental leave." #AgeOfAgeingBetter
"Without serious and urgent action for better health, a long and healthy life risks becoming the preserve of the wealthy." #AgeOfAgeingBetter
"The pandemic has seen growing inequalities with some people being more active and others less active. We need to encourage active travel and get those who are inactive moving." #AgeOfAgeingBetter
"They say you should never waste a crisis and I hope we don’t waste this current one. For too long now, we’ve been completely failing to face up to the age shift." #AgeOfAgeingBetter
"I hope you enjoy reading my book. But more than that I hope you have the courage to act, to make the Age of Ageing Better a reality for us all." #AgeOfAgeingBetter

"We do need to find ways of tapping into wealth. And I think we should look at that before we cut the state pension. Those who are already reliable on the state pension are finding themselves not living adequately."
