I have reflected a great deal over recent days over what I can do now to help protect and promote the UK as the outward looking democratic nation that I have always believed it to be....

In this reflection I have been inspired by the story of Josef Hartinger and by the part he played in pushing back against the Nazis in Germany 3/n

In the public eye we have journalists, broadcasters, whistleblowers, barristers, and politicians at all levels,
who will fight fearlessly and persistently to protect,
preserve and even restore democracy in the UK

Behind the scenes we have researchers, civil servants, local government officers, scientists, charity workers, & more, all of whom will continue to uphold standards to
prevent the march of totalitarianism

All of these people are active every day, people who have the power to be heard, or help others to be heard.
So where can I help? What is my role in pushing back against the hollowing out of our democracy?

Where I feel I can help is to support all of these people who can speak more eloquently than I can, or who can, behind the scenes, work to stop the destruction of our democracy.

These people, the people I identify as the Josef Hartinger 100, are the ones I will be retweeting, engaging with, promoting, and sharing.
I have my own list - and I will look at it when I feel overwhelmed, and know these people are fighting for what I believe in...
